Keills Chapel graveyard, Nr Tayvallich, Knapdale
Scotland

Built during the 1100s, Keills Chapel is a simple, rectangular Highland chapel dedicated to St Cormac. It houses a collection of early Christian and late medieval carved stones. These include free-standing crosses and grave slabs, ranging in date from the 700s to the 1500s.

The most notable is the 8th century Keills Cross. The two-metre high, free-standing, ring-headed cross is thought to have been made by craftsmen from Iona. The medieval grave slabs are decorated by a variety of motifs that include swords, targes (shields), crosses and craftsmans' tools of trade.
