Knuden

A calm place just 200 m from the main road. It´s a nice place to rest between Mandal and Kristiansand, and may be a last stop in Norway before the boat to Denmark.

Knuden ("The Knot") was built in 1922 and is a 356 degree turn on the road made for climbing the hillside with cars or horses. This is a "must see" when driving from Mandal to Kristiansand.

The old road was a steep road all the way up from bottom of the valley. The new road, coming from west, is much higher than originally, which causes you to drive down to the area from both ends.
