Lambert Steinwich, Stralsund, Germany

View across the  Frankenteich (= Frankonia lake) at the historical center of Stralsund and the Marien church. The statue is dedicated to Lambert Steinwich (1571-1629). He was the major of this important Hanseatic town from 1616 until his death in 1629. During the siege of Stralsund in the Thirty Years' War he was able to defend the city with Danish and Swedish help. UNESCO World Heritage
