The first snow of the winter finally came yesterday (this has been such a wet, warm season so far), so this morning we went for a walk in the hills to enjoy the views before the thaw started in earnest.
This is Naze road, leading up the hill from Gauxholme. It's now a farmer's track and is mostly used by dog walkers, but at one time it was a key packhorse route in and out of the valley. There even used to be cars driving up and here in the 1920s.
