Lovicks Hut

The Lovick family, have been using the Victorian High Country for grazing cattle for generations. Based in Merrijig (near Mansfield), the family built huts around the area. This hut is located just east of Mt Lovick - Alt 1684m, named in honour of the families service in the area. It has been burnt down and rebuilt a few times - this is the latest incarnation. Grazing cattle is currently prohibited in the Alpine National Park, so its main use now is shelter for Horse tours, 4wd'ers, walkers, skiers etc. The floor is now stone and the hut has no rooms, just 1 big area, with a HUGE fireplace
