Inside the working belfry (bell chamber), halfway up the steeple of the community-run Todmorden Unitarian Church. One of those wonderfully English traditions, change ringing involves playing a sequence of different tuned bells, such as these here, to play a complex pattern of sounds. The dedicated team of local bell ringers ensures this renovated set is regularly used. Hearing them peal over the town on a spring evening is a real pleasure.
