The Palace street exists already c the beginnings of 14 centuries. Its ancient name was street Rederu which occurs from the name of a generation to which in this street possess property. Since 15 middles of the century the Palace street has received the present name because on this street was possible to reach a palace of Riga. In the street the Palace during archeological excavations fragments of a city of 13-14 centuries - the bases of a tower of a fortress are found out.
