Plasencia Plaza Mayor

La Plaza Mayor de Plasencia (Cáceres), is an arcaded square around the edge and is located in the heart of the historic old city, dominates the square, the Town Hall in the main tower of the building, placed a robot, known by all as Piacenza, Mayorga's grandfather, who acts as the clock tower rings the bells every half hour. This building dates from the XVI century and has been restored several times over the years is a transition style from Gothic to Renaissance. On one side of the Town Hall is the old jail building built in the seventeenth century with a facade of masonry and a shield of King Philip IV.

In the square, all the main roads that connect the historical with the different walls exterior doors giving access to the site of the city. Around the Plaza lies the historic old city, the location of palaces, mansions and historic buildings and religious calendar.
The plaza is the heart of the city and this place has been celebrated since the Middle Ages, the traditional market Tuesday where they sell the best agricultural products in nearby counties. From the square, where a tourist train that takes a tour of the most monumental city.
