Reclining Buddha, Wat Lokayasutharam, Ayutthaya
Thailand
The city of Ayutthaya was once one of the capitals of Thailand and, at its peak, was one of the largest cities in the world. In 1767 the city was sacked by the Burmese army. The ruins of its temples and monasteries attract visitors from around the world. Wat Lokayasutharam was once a large temple complex, but now little remains but foundations and this statue, called Phra Buddhasaiyat.
