Schärding (Bavarian: schareng) is a town in Upper Austria with 4874 inhabitants (1 January 2014). It lies at the Inn, south of Passau, on the western edge of the Innviertel, and is a district capital at the same local center for the surrounding district.
Geography:
Schärding is located on 313 m altitude in innviertel. The expansion is from north to south 4.1 km, from west to east 1.9 km away. The total area is 4.08 km². 2.4% of the area is forested, 31.7% are used for agriculture. The Inn is the border with neighboring state of Bavaria. Directly opposite on the Bavarian side of the Inn, the municipality Neuhaus am Inn, which is accessible via two Innbridges.
