This particular summit cross in my panorama from August 2009 was destroyed in the summer of 2016 by someone with an axe. The summit of Schafreuter marks the border between Bavaria, Germany and Tyrol, Austria. From the nearby mountain hut named Tölzer Hütte one can follow a nice path that leads to this easily accessible peak. Here you can enjoy a great view around the Karwendel range and even spot Munich if visibility isn't reduced due to high humidity. Just left of the cross you can see Sylvenstein Reservoir which is impounded by a huge dam in the river Isar.
