Staithes, North Yorkshire

Staithes was once one of the busiest fishing ports on the North East coast of England. Today the small coastal village is mainly a tourist destination, popular with fossil hunters. It was during his time living and working in Staithes that a young James Cook is said to have first acquired his passion for the sea.
