Stari Grad (Italian: Cittavecchia) is a city in Croatia, located on the west side of the island of Hvar, at the bottom of the bay of Starigrad. Stari Grad (literally - Old Town) is the oldest city in Croatia. It is assumed that it was founded in 384 BC by Greek settlers from the island of Paros in the Aegean Sea. It is possible that due to the very favorable position there existed an older Illyrian settlement.
