This image, captured 5/24/2015, is from Merriam Point at Crater Lake National Park. A beautiful sunset swept over the park casting glowing rays on the surrounding peaks. I spent several minutes contemplating what the view would have been like thousands of years earlier at the same site, before the stratovolcano exploded, creating the vast lake that is there present day.
Crater Lake is a snow melt filled volcano crater in south central Oregon, USA. The water is very pure and awsomely blue. It is the deepest Lake in the USA at 1946 feet.
