Annual trip to Tokyo, Aug-Sep 2011. Day walk circling Tamako (Tama Lake) along the Tamako cycling road. From the top of the embankment was probably the best out of only a handful of locations where a decent view of the lake could be had while walking. The lake itself was inaccessible from anywhere off the cycling road - maybe I missed something or perhaps there really was meant to be no visitor access at all.
In the distance Seibu Dome and Seibu Yuenchi amusement park (with its ferris wheel) are visible, while the other side of the embankment is covered by the forests of Sayama park.

Tama area is the name of the western part of Tokyo Metropolis. It consists of 26 cities, 3 towns and a village. A lot of people (about 4 milion) live in a eastern half part of the area. However, there are many mountains in the western part of Tama area, and there are very little flat land. Many hiking spots are in the western area, so you can enjoy walking on the trail, camping, and so on. If you see the beautiful mountain scene, you may not believe this is also in Tokyo.
