Batterie Vara (Møvik fort)

Bulidt by the Werhmacht during 1941-44 and was supposed to protect the Skagerak sea between Norway and Denmark witch also had guns so that only 10 nautical miles was unprotected. Instead there was mines placed.


In Kristiansand there where severel guns in service untill 1959. Then the rest where scrapped and one is still standing. Today it is a war museum and it is possible to visit inside the turret. The gun is a 38 cm caliber.
