The Longstone, Mottistone, Isle of Wight

The Longstone, actually two large slabs of sandstone, situated high up on Mottistone Down is thought to be the remains of a long barrow - an ancient burial chamber - dating back several thousand years. Such standing stones were revered as sacred objects during the Neolithic period.
