After several failed attempts, on this July 6th the conditions seem finally favorable. In the twilight, I went down alone with my equipment in the “enclos Fouqué” (enclosure), the caldera formed by the Piton de la Fournaise. It is cold, about 2 °c ( 35°f), the wind is icy but the motivation is there. After a 30 minute of walking, of which 20 of the abrupt descent, I reach at the bottom of the enclosure. Some locations to obtain the best possible composition, then tests to assess the proper exposure and it’s finally time for the shooting session.
What a strange feeling of being alone in the dark in the middle of this deserted caldera, only lit by the magic sparkling of our Milky Way.
