The Crater (4910'/1497m) summit
Nevada

View from near the summit of The Crater (elev. 4,910'), an unusual cinder cone that sticks up amidst the middle of the Clayton Valley north of Silver Peak, Nevada.  The peak has some significant erosion including an overtime washout of its east slope.  Many of the lava flows below are buried under eons of alluvial fan buildup of the slopes of the Silver Peak Range nearby.
