The remnants of the complex, some sections of wall at the height of Praça da República and the surrounding area, are classified as a Property of Public Interest by Decree published on 20 October 1955.

Porta de São Bartolomeu, to the north, flanked by two circular towers;Porta de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Porta da Vila), flanked by two circular towers; and Castle Gate, to the south, defended by the castle itself.
