The castle is located on the western outskirts of the village average. Unlike other fortifications Transcarpathia Serednyansky Castle was built not on a hill, and on the plain. The south side was limited zamchischa riverbank Small Latoritsa. To the north (today - to the south) from the castle held an important road linking Uzhgorod and Mukachevo, Uzhgorod and then connects with Lviv. The village with the castle was located exactly halfway between Uzhgorod and Mukachevo, therefore, likely to settle and got its name - average. In ancient times, the village was surrounded by dense forests, which today have disappeared almost completely.
