伪满皇宫可分为进行政治活动的外廷和日常生活是内廷两部分，现分别辟为伪满皇宫陈列馆和伪满帝宫陈列馆。外廷（皇宫）是溥仪处理政务的场所，主要建筑有勤民楼、怀远楼、嘉乐殿，勤民楼是溥仪办公的地方。此外还有花园、假山、养鱼池、游泳池、网球场、高尔夫球场、跑马场以及书画库等其他附属场所。内廷（帝宫）是溥仪及其家属日常生活的区域，其中辑熙楼是溥仪和皇后婉容的居所，是日常起居之处；同德殿是“福贵人”的居所，另外还设有一些娱乐设施。如今，帝宫的一部分已辟为吉林省博物馆，展出高句丽、渤海、辽、金等在东北建立的封建王朝的史料。
