Argenta - Campotto, Pieve di S Giorgio
Emilia Romagna

Stands alone on the right side of the river Rhine is the oldest medieval witness in the territory of Argenta. Around 569-570 archbishop of Ravenna Agnello wanted to build a "monasterium", a small church dedicated to St. George. We do not know whether the religious building was, from the beginning, a parish, and functions that take place baptismal church: the first statement to that effect dating back to 1022.
