The Ducal Castle in Szczecin, Poland, was the seat of the dukes of Pomerania-Stettin of the House of Pomerania (Griffins), who ruled the Duchy of Pomerania from 1121 to 1637. Destroyed in 1944 during WW2 by the Allied bombardements, while Stettin was German, the castle was being rebuilt between 1950 and 1980 after available plans by the Polish authorities. Under the mane "Zamek Książąt Pomorskich“, the castle serves, among others, as site for museums, theaters and other cultural as well als municipal institutions.
