Fortress at Ellenabben
Sweden

The fortress at Ellenabben is located on the island Aspö in the archipelago of Karlskrona. It was built between 1900 and 1904 and was part of the defense of the naval base in Karlskrona. During world war one the fortress was quite heavily armed including 6 x 9.8 inches caliber guns in twin turrets, 2 x 57mm caliber guns and 2 x 6 inches caliber guns. All guns were removed long ago, except for the two 57mm that still can be seen at each end of the fortress.

Today the fortress is sealed and fences are keeping people away from falling down in various holes or over rusty steel bar fences.
