During the Civil War, the Glover Park was used as a training ground for the militia. On the north end of the park a well provided water for thirsty people with a trough for horses. In the early 1900's the Atlanta trolley was run to Marietta and the trolley would turn around by circling the park. At Christmas time the bandstand area is taken over by elves building a home for Santa Claus.
