Square of the Polish Soldier in Katowice with the Monument of the Polish Soldier that commemorates Poles fighting in World War II. The monument was unveiled on October 6th, 1978. It's made of bronze according to a design of a sculptor Bronisław Chromy and an architect Jerzy Pilitowski.
During the communist times the square was a place of many military celebrations, mainly parades. Nowadays there are also organized ceremonies like celebrations of the Feast of the Polish Armed Forces (Polish: Święto Wojska Polskiego), ceremonial oath of the military school classes etc.
