Mayer Park East is primarily a windsurfing site on the Oregon side of the Columbia River within the scenic Gorge corridor.  The entire Gorge corridor is a world class windsurfing area because of predictable strong winds from early spring through the fall, and the fact that, almost unque in the world, it is a windsurfing stage in which the wind blows counter to a strong current. That results in steep waves for jumping and a constant upwind current drift which allows a continuous downwind sailing angle for maximum speed without losing position with regard to the shoreline launching point.
