Mt. Shasta (14179'/4322m) summit
California

View from the top of Mt. Shasta (elev. 14,179') in Northern California, fifth highest peak in the state.  The peak is the second highest volcano in the Cascade Range which span from California into British Columbia, Canada & one of the most prominent peaks in the United States, having such a relief above the surrounding area that it often creates its own weather.  Today was quite calm w/ the scent of rotten eggs from nearby fumaroles from below, the views extended towards Mt. McLoughlin north to the Warner Mountains east, Lassen Peak south, and the view of the whole high peaks of the Klamath Mountains stretching from the Trinity Alps to the Siskiyou Mountains.  I dropped my camera in Wildhorse Lake near Steens Mountain, Oregon two weeks earlier, so apologies for the mass accumulation of dust specs that the sun itself brought out.
