The visitor center for Nez Perce National Historical Park is here in the dry foothills of northwestern Idaho, a few miles east of the Snake River. It was a focus for the tribe because of the early mission and later Presbyterian church, the Indian agent's base, and the general store, plus the river and later the railroad.
