The Prambanan compound also known as Rara Jonggrang complex, named after the popular legend of Rara Jonggrang. There were once 240 temples stood in this Shivaite temple complex, either big or small. The Prambanan temple is the largest Hindu temple of ancient Java, and the first building was completed in the mid-9th century.
