The Dalles dam was built in 1952. The water that dammed this part of the Columbia submerged the great Celilo falls that was a fishing ground for native Americans for millennium. This dam and Bonneville dam to the west powered the expansion of Oregon and Washington. This view starts facing north over the mighty Columbia River to Washington state. Look around and see a very good view of the east end of The Dalles
