The old bridle path to Uttakleiv on the Vestvågøy island on the Lofoten. The steep path was the first way to connect Uttakleiv with the „rest of the world“. In the 1930s, a new coastal road was built, which made possible to reach Uttakleiv also with vehicles. In the 1990s, a 1 km long tunnel has been built, and the old road is closed for motorized traffic and acts as hiking path. The bridle path is partially difficult to follow on the south-east side, because it’s been damaged by erosion. If in doubt, just follow the sheep track and/or the power transmission line. The passage on the top, shown in the panorama, opens a breathtaking view to the Uttakleiv Bay.
