The castle was located on top of the hill surrounded by the church and the village houses. It has been documented since 1167 but its origins may be much earlier, around the year 1000. Jurisdiction was exercised by the Claramunt family and later by the Montoliu family. In the 14th century it passed to the Queralt lineage and shortly afterwards to the Icart family, who held the lordship until the 17th century. Currently, only a few sections of the perimeter wall and the base of a circular tower remain.
