Medusa room, with a freshly painted ceiling, walls decorated with ashlar tiles from the 17th century from Talavera de la Reinam, polychrome in blue and yellow, and a fireplace in white and gray marble, with the arms of the Dukes of Bragança.
The arrangement of this large room maintains the characteristics of its design at the beginning of the century of six hundred: the frescoes on the ceiling executed by Tomás Luis tell the story of Medusa and Perseus; the tiles of Talavera de la Reina tiles that cover it belong to the same order mentioned above. The imposing chimney of white and black marble, coming from local quarries, stands out, with the arms of the Dukes of Bragança.
The Persian rug, type Ispahan, and the aquariums in Chinese porcelain, give the touch of exoticism of the time and complete the furniture: buffet, counter and chairs from the 17th century. The series of ducal portraits, commissioned in 1907 by King D. Carlos is made by the most celebrated painters: it begins with D. Maria I by António Ramalho, followed by D. João VI by Columbano, D. Pedro IV by Ernesto Condeixa, the portrait of D. Maria II was in charge of Veloso Salgado, D. Pedro V by Constantino Fernandes, D. Carlos posed for Carlos Reis, and D. Luis Filipe posed for José Malhoa; this set completes the portrait gallery that decorates the ceiling of the Sala dos Duques.
