Aljaferia Palace, the Throne Room, Zaragoza (Spain)
Saragossa
The Aljafería Palace was built under the mandate of the Muslim monarch Al-Muqtadir, in the 11th century. He called it Qasr al-Surur, which means Palace of Joy. It was also the palace of the Catholic Monarchs, a prison for the Inquisition and a military barracks. Currently and after numerous transformations and restorations, it is the seat of the Cortes de Aragón. During the visit of the palace, numerous artistic manifestations of the different periods can be observed. The Throne Room is the most admired, with its extraordinary coffered ceiling and paved floor, which represents a reflection of the geometric shapes of the ceiling.
