The town church in Buchen was first mentioned in a document in 1320 as St. Peter's Church, demolished shortly thereafter and replaced in 1341 by a new Gothic building. The conversion to a three-aisled church with a staggered hall took place between 1503 and 1507. The modern apse with the dominant choir windows by Emil Wachter was realized in 1958-1961.
