Interior of the Buckshot Mine in the Inyo Mountains outside of Independence, California. This abandoned lead/silver/gold mine has a large tailings pile outside & bores primarily through limestone. Most work was done over 100 years ago w/ the oldest carbide lamp signatures coinciding w/ the 1920s. This view shows a room w/ support timbers surrounding a flooded eerie winze w/ crystal clear green-tinted water. It was hard to get a good angle of the winze so I included it as an inset. The crosscut itself can be explored for about 1/2 mile from the entrance until one reaches a massive cave-in at a wet section of the mine where the bedrock is weaker.
