The Clan Jetties, George Town, Penang, Malaysia, a World Heritage Site.The Clan Jetties are are unique series of Chinese settlements along the Weld Quay. Homes are built on wooden piers jutting out into the Penang Channel. It has been in existence since the 19th century. The residents of the jetties are decedents of the original Chinese immigrants that settled in Penang. Each Jetty reflects the distinct historical and geographical linage of its residents. The are originally eight jetties along the quay, (Chew Jetty, Koay Jetty,Lee Jetty, Lim Jetty, Peng Aun Jetty, Tan Jetty, Yeoh Jetty and the Mixed Clans Jetty).
