The Hobbiton Movie Set is located 10 kilometres southwest of Matamata. The set was used for the movies of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit trilogy by Peter Jackson. You can take guided tours of the outside set. There is one building you can actually enter: the Green Dragon Inn.
