龍潭寺本堂は1676年に建てられた、江戸時代前期に建てられた方丈建築であり、静岡県指定有形文化財となっている。しかし、建てられてから近年までの間に改変があったことは十分に想像できる。たとえば屋根は瓦ぶきとなっていたが、近年の改修時の調査で創建時は杮葺きであったことが判明、改修では杮葺きを模した金属板葺きにあらためられた。
本堂の前面には枯山水の庭園が広がっている。これも当初のものなのか否かは分からないのだが、方丈建築では「必需品」だ。

The eight islands of Japan sprang into existence through Divine Intervention.The first two gods who came into existence were Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto, the Exalted Male and Exalted Female.
