This is one of two very similar panos I took on top of Martis Dam, outside of Truckee, California. I'm not sure which is better-- you decide!
Martis Dam was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood protection and a backup water supply for the city of Reno, Nevada downstream. The lake rarely fills up much, but the valley is beautiful and the Federal property provides a nice little oasis of largely undeveloped land near the booming resort town of Truckee.
