「River to River 川のほとりのアートフェス」広瀬川美術館の展示（２階）は、エデュケーターの小田久美子がアーティストのカナイサワコへ、「来場者が体験や参加できる展示にしたい」と投げかけ、カナイが展示を構成しました。その上で、小田が展示にまつわるキーワードを集めて紹介しています。

1982年前橋市生まれ。2009 年武蔵野美術大学大学院彫刻コース修了。Maebashi Works 代表。2019 年個展「Reverse River」（Maebashi Works /前橋）。2017 年「群馬の美術 2017- 地域社会における現代美術の居場所」（群馬県立近代美術館/高崎）等。架空の世界設定を作り、その中で行われるであろう生活や文化、信仰等を物語とインスタレーションで表現する。
鹿児島県生まれ。鹿児島大学大学院教育学研究科美術教育専修修了。鹿児島や群馬のNPOや美術館での教育普及事業に携わり、2018年よりフリー。地域におけるアートを通した学びの状況が生成される場に関心があり、アーティスワークショップのコーディネートや記録、美術館等でワークショップを実施。主な展覧会に「ソウウレシ」（2019年、旧本間酒造）。
前橋市出身の洋画家（二科会所属）である近藤嘉男（1915年（大正4年） - 1979年（昭和54年））が、1948年（昭和23年）に現在の美術館の所在地に、自宅兼アトリエを建設、子供絵画教室「ラ・ボンヌ」と大人向け美術教室「生活造型実験室」を開設した。近藤の没後、美術館としての補修・改築が行われ、1997年（平成9年）に開館した。1998年（平成10年）には「まえばし都市景観賞」を受賞、1999年（平成11年）には、国の登録有形文化財に登録された。
前橋の街にある広瀬川や馬場川。私たちにうるおいと豊かな景観とともに多くのインスピレーションをもたらしてくれます。
「River to River 川のほとりのアートフェス」では、2つの川の流域にあるアートスペースや歴史的建造物などの拠点で展覧会と演劇公演を行います。
そこに流れ続ける川のように、本アートフェスを通して前橋の今と昔に出会いそれが未来へつながっていくことを願っています。
The eight islands of Japan sprang into existence through Divine Intervention.The first two gods who came into existence were Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto, the Exalted Male and Exalted Female. It was their job to make the land for people to live on.They went to the bridge between heaven and earth and, using a jewel-encrusted halberd, Izanagi and Izanami churned up the sea into a frothy foam. As salty drips of water fell from the tip of the halberd the first island was formed. Its name was Onogoro.So far, so good. But when Izanagi and Izanami first met on their island, Izanami spoke to Isanagi without being spoken to first. Since she was the female, and this was improper, their first union created badly-formed offspring who were sent off into the sea in boats.The next time they met, Izanagi was sure to speak first, ensuring the proper rules were followed, and this time they produced eight children, which became the islands of Japan.I'm sure you did not fail to miss the significance of this myth for the establishment of Japanese formal society.At present, Japan is the financial capital of Asia. It has the second largest economy in the world and the largest metropolitan area (Tokyo.)Technically there are three thousand islands making up the Japanese archipelago. Izanagi and Izanami must have been busy little devils with their jewelled halberd...Japan's culture is highly technical and organized.
