Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Cabo Espichel, located at the westernmost point of the coast of Sesimbra, is a unique civil and religious architectural ensemble, which combines the monumentality of the building with the immateriality of religious devotion. It comprises the church, guest houses, Ermida da Memória, Opera House, in ruins, Hortas dos Peregrinos Casa da Água and aqueduct. The landscape of this monument, on a plateau that ends in cliffs towards the sea, makes it monumental.
