Shirin Art Gallery Dec 2023 Davar Yousefi Archetype 01
Out of this World

نمایشگاه انفرادی نقاشی " داور یوسفی" با عنوان " سَرنِمون " دی 1402 گالری شیرین

Davar Yousefi, a contemporary artist and teacher, was born in 1342 (1963) in Khalkhal, Ardabil.

His passion for art developed during his teenage years. Yousefi pursued painting personally and sporadically from the diploma level until the age of 26. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degreein painting from the Islamic Azad University.

Between 1994 and 1996, Yousefi held solo exhibitions at the Arya Gallery in Tehran.

Since then, he has showcased his works both individually and collectively inside and outside Iran, including galleries like Barg, Momayez, Iranian Artist Forum, Sa, Tarahan Azad, Sareban, and in countries such as Canada, the Emirates, Kuwait, South Korea, Turkey, Italy, and Greece.

Yousefi has been active as an art instructor at Sooreh, Alzahra, and Islamic Azad universities.

His Last exhibition was in”N” Gallery in Paris.

Besides painting, he has executed mosaic murals in public spaces in Tehran.

Yousefi’s artworks are characterized by a naturalistic and primitive color palette, featuring human and animal figures as major motifs. Techniques such as abstracting, segmenting limbs, and portraying figures flatly and from a full or half profile angle recall ancient artworks from Egypt to Lorestan.

His composition and use of local perspectives lend an archaic effect to his paintings. In depicting figures, he employs both coexistence and substitution of limbs, bringing forth his mythological narrative characters through segmenting or extending parts of the figure.

His raw and primitive approach with colors, at times resembling organic and indigenous hues, complements and enhances the thematic and artistic approach of this artist.

This provides an overview of Davar Yousefi’s life, career, and artistic style.

In describing this collection, Javid Ramezani shares profound insights:

" The German philosopher Martin Heidegger, sees history as cyclical.

The tendency to preserve the history and restoring the idealistic approach into the past and reviving the historical events is an undeniable propensity.

Heidegger believes that history returns but in the sense of a new beginning, and as a reminder of the concepts of present and future; This is what can be clearly seen in this exhibition.

Here, the formal structure of the works is constructed by myths. But in the theatrical scenes of these paintings, mythological characters are an implement for projecting the sufferings of contemporary life.

The shrewd artist looks to the past practices through a critical lens. He seeks the mysticism of which the tradition of persian art has enjoied through the centuries. The composition of the works and the way in which the characters are chosen, altogether has merged the past and the present to point to the history of current miseries.

Decoding of these reexpressions adds to the delectation of seeing and revealing these narratives."

More About Out of this World

The planet Earth has proven to be too limiting for our awesome community of panorama photographers. We're getting an increasing number of submissions that depict locations either not on Earth (like Mars, the Moon, and Outer Space in general) or do not realistically represent a geographic location on Earth (either because they have too many special effects or are computer generated) and hence don't strictly qualify for our Panoramic World project. But many of these panoramas are extremely beautiful or popular of both. So, in order to accommodate our esteemed photographers and the huge audience that they attract to 360Cities with their panoramas, we've created a new section (we call it an "area") called "Out of this World" for panoramas like these.Don't let the fact that these panoramas are being placed at the Earth's South Pole fool you - we had to put them somewhere in order not to interfere with our Panoramic World.Welcome aboard on a journey "Out of this World".

It looks like you’re creating an order.
