Silver Lake is a shallow lake with a surrounding alpine marsh that fills the lower portions of Brighton Basin at the head of Big Cottonwood Canyon and the headwaters of Big Cottonwood Creek. An easily accessible boardwalk and well maintained trail complete a loop around the lake, wandering through pines and aspens.
On a hot summer day, you are likely to find quite a few people visiting from Salt Lake City, enjoying the cooler climate, bird watching, hiking, wildflower viewing or fishing the well stocked lake.
