Starina reservoir is located in the easternmost tip of Slovakia, in the northeastern part of Zemplína in the district Snina. It is built on the upper reaches of the river Cirocha in Bieszczady Mountains, on the territory of the National Park Poloniny.
The water reservoir has a volume of 59.8 million. m3 of water and covers an area of 240 ha, dam wall has a height of 50 m. It was built between 1983-1988 to supply Eastern Slovakia (especially Presov and Kosice) drinking water. Its construction was preceded eviction 7 villages because of the protection zone of the source of drinking water in the tank 70 20 years century. It was the following municipalities: Dara, Ostružnica, Russian, Smolník, Starina, United Polana Zvala.
