Le Feu métallique du môle, Port-Vendres (France)
Languedoc-Roussillon
This lighthouse, built in 1885 in Port-Vendres (Pyrénées-Orientales) - Occitanie - France - consists of a metal turret built on a hexagonal ashlar base. Six cast-iron pillars support a solid part where the watch chamber is located, accessed by a spiral staircase with openwork steps fixed on a central axis. This staircase has now disappeared. The chamber is octagonal with metal interior walls, a wooden floor and ceiling. Another metal staircase leads to the optics under the lantern. The 1885 optic was replaced in 1906 by a Luchaire device.
