Whakarewarewa is an area of geothermal activity southeast of Rotorua. The Maori fortress Te Puia was located here. It is also home of the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. You can book tourist tours including Maori performances, a traditional Haki style meal and a tour to the geyser.
