St Blaise Church, St Blazey, Cornwall
England

The church of St Blaise dates to about 1440, but was much restored in 1839. There is a particularly fine monument in the south aisle to Henry Scovell (who died in 1727) decorated with columns and framed by drapery over an oval depicting the Last Judgement.

St Blaise was an early Christian martyr from Armenia who was canonised in the 13th century. He was tortured by having his flesh torn by an iron comb used by wool comber and was chosen as patron saint of the wool combing industry.
